Youths Stole Goods From Parked Cars
(New Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM, December 17. Two youths who admitted taking property worth ssoB—ranging from teddy bears to truck grease guns and including numerous car accessories, badges, and emblems—from cars parked at the Picton ferry terminal, at Waikawa Bay, and at Blenheim, were remanded in custody for sentence on Tuesday when they appeared in the Blenheim Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.
Mr J. W. P. Watts, S.M., called for a probation officer's report on each youth. They are Patrick George Pitcher, aged 17, an apprentice painter, of Purkiss Street, Blenheim, and Allan Charles Bowler, aged 18, an unemployed workman, of Hampden Street. Picton. Neither was represented by counsel. Each accused pleaded guilty to the 27 charges of theft read
against him. Pitcher also admitted taking a car valued at $550. Detective E. L. McLachlan said the owners of some of the property had not been traced. The thefts were re-| garded as vandalism. He added that at the re-! quest of the youths’ parents i each this morning had been) given “a short back and sides” hair-cut. *
