"'Serious Delay" Over Building
The delay in obtaining a grant of $31,000 to meet the first stage of a programme for modifying the laboratory building and Ivey Hall was serious, said the principal of Lincoln College (Dr M. M. Burns) at yesterday’s council meeting.
Submissions for this work i were made in accordance with 1 Ministry of Works recommen- . dations some time ago. he j said. It would now be very difficult to have the work 1 completed during the summer 1 —the most convenient time 1 and the least harmful to the < residents. The council did, however, < receive approval for the pre- 1
paration of working drawings for two new lecture theatres, with capacities for 300 and 350 students. The basic cost is not to exceed 8200,000. Dr Burns said accommodation would be extraordinarily tight and it would not be possible to have this work completed by March 1. 1970. "We will have extreme difficulty in handling 250 diploma I students," he said.
