$17.8m SPENT LAST YEAR
N.Z. Tourists In Aust. (N.Z.* Press Association) WELLINGTON. Dec. 17. New Zealand visitors to Australia spent more than Australian visitors to New Zealand did in the year ended September 30, the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) said in Parliament today. New Zealanders took $17.8m out of New Zealand to Australia, and Australians brought in $9.7m, according to Reserve Bank statistics, Mr Muldoon said. The amount spent by Australians had increased in greater proportion than had the amount spent in Australia by New Zealanders, he said. Mr Muldoon was answering a question by Mr P. Blanchfield (Lab., Westland).
