Scheme To Improve Woolclassing
',(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 16. Registration of woolbroker-classers, a further step-to improve the presentation and handling of the . New Zealand clip, was well under way, Mr R.R. Trotter, president of the Woolbrokers’ Association, said in Wellington today.
! Mr Trotter said woolbrokers were already co-operat-ing with the Wool Handling Committee to raise the standards of wool handling on farms. They had appointed inspectors to check and maintain classing standards. In addition, woolbrokers were co-operating with the Wool Research Organisation to develop rapid and accurate methods of wool measurement and, in conjunction with the Wool Flow Committee, were seeking to improve the trans-
port and handling of wool from stores to ships. “For some time woolbrokers have been investigating this scheme for registration of ’ their experienced woolclassers,” said Mr Trotter. “The objectives, are to raise the status and standing of woolclassing, to provide a level of achievement to which younger woolclassers can aspire, to provide a definite qualification to identify fully experienced woolclassers, and to help attract further suitable men to woolclassing.
