HURRICANE WEAKENS
(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, Dec. 16. A hurricane warning led Northland boat owners to check their moorings yesterday and last night, but the hurricane did not reach New Zealand. The hurricane developed near the Solomon Islands and was expected to sweep southeast past New Zealand, bringing gales and rain to Northland. However, it lost intensity and some gusty weather late yesterday and some spasmodic rain during the night were its only effects in New Zealand.
