NEW LEAGUE POST
<N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. A man with 21 years as a hockey administrator was yesterday appointed the sec-retary-manager of the Auckland Rugby League. He is Mr R. W. Appleby, aged 42. His appointment—43 applied for the new position—was announced by board chairman, Mr I. Stonex. Last year Mr Appleby was awarded the Alwyn Moon Trophy as the Auckland sports administrator of the year. He will take over his new duties in mid-January.
