P.O. Savings Bank

Sir, —In a recent issue of your paper it was stated that the Post Office Savings Bank had an excess of withdrawals over deposits amounting to $24 million in the last year. According to the Department of Statistics, between September, 1967 and 1968, the trading banks’ savings banks had an increase of deposits over withdrawals of $52 million. Surely this indicates that the increasing lack of support for the Post Office Savings Bank is causing a movement towards the better services offered by other savings banks.—Yours, etc., STEPHEN MOFFATT. December 13, 1965.
