F Barrington, who suffered a mild heart attack while playing in Melbourne two months ago. said yesterday that he hoped to be back in action next season. Th* 38-year-old Surrey allrounder reported himself “in fine form” as the liner Canberra. on which he and his wife, Ann, returned to England, steamed up the English Channel. Speaking by shlp-to-shore telephone, Barrington said: "1 feel fine and I am walking around quite comfortably. In fact, I have been doing a bit of exercise, taking a few swings with a golf club at plastic balls on the officers’ deck. “I Intend to eee th* Surrey club officials during the coming week and then it will be up to the specialist to paint th* picture. ■•I want to play for Surrey for another two or three years and the doctor who attended me In Melbourne told me that as I am still a comparatively young man, he saw no reason why I should not fully recover. “I hope, if the examination la favourable, to begin light practice tn the new year. I may be playing again during the coming season. As long a* I build up slowly I feel I can get back to normal activities." Barrington said.
