Chch. Bowlers Win Barnett Tiki

The first representative bowline fixture for the season was held at the Fendaiton Green on Saturday. The Christchurch Bowling Centre and North Otago have been competing for the Barnett Tiki since 1939, and on Saturday Christchurch won back the trophy which they lost to Nortfy. ptago last year. Fox winning 28-13 from W. Smith. However, the main interest in the morning was on the match between A. Rudduck, the skip of the National fours champions, and E. Colville of St Albans. In the early stages the game was even, and they were fiveall on the seventh end. Colville went to a 9-5 lead on the ninth, but Rudduck went ahead to lead 14-9 on the thirteenth end, and at the eighteenth had increased his lead to 20-11. Colville picked up one on the next end and five on the twentieth and finished with a 21-20 win. ■ Colville's team comprised J. Owen (Dallington), lead, A. Bills (Christchurch W.M.C.) and A. Caldwell (Riccarton W.M.C,>. and they must take credit for a fine win over an experienced team. T. McGimpsey, who was lead for Rudduck, held the same position when Rudduck won the National fours. Rudduck’s usual No. 3. R. Keen, was himself skip of a four. Keen won his morning match decisively when he beat D. Finnic. 27-14, but he was in turn defeated by one point In his afternoon match with J. Lyell.

Rudduck met G. Connal tn the afternoon. Once again he established a substantial lead, but Connal took lour on the fifteenth end to trail 18-12. They entered the final end with Rudduck leading 20-15 and two masterful final deliveries by Rudduck gave him a further four for a decisive win.
