(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. I R. J. Charles, at his superi lative best, won the Takapuna I Lodge-Stars Travel 81000 golf tournament at Albany yesterday. He sank a 10ft birdie 'putt on the eighteenth to score a 66 and beat W. J. Godfrey and P. W. Thomson, who had 675. Charles collected §2OO, but it was nearly Sl2OO. A threeiron tee shot at the 172-yard fifteenth stopped lOin short of the pin. The ball landed just inside the green and rolled more than 30ft. He would have taken $lOOO for a hole in one.
