Mr H. A. Montgomery, lecturer in philosophy at the University of Canterbury, has been appointed associate professor of philosophy at Auckland University.

An old boy of Christ’s College, he graduated M.Sc. and later took an M.A. in philosophy. Mr Montgomery joined the staff of the University of Canterbury in 1962 and spent a period of study leave at the University of New England on an Erskine Grant in 1966.

After taking up his Auckland appointment at the beginning of the academic year, he will go to the University of Pittsburgh as visiting professor in philosophy in April and will return about midAugust.
