Deer Numbers Reduced

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 13. Helicopter hunting operations had reduced the deer population in New Zealand, said the Minister of Forests (Mr Maclntyre) today, replying in Parliament to a question by Mr P. Bianchfield (Lab., Westland) on the effect of operations. In answer to another question by Mr Bianchfield, Mr Maclntyre said deer carcases left in the bush were not generally economical to recover.
