‘FREE JURA’ SHOUTS

Parliamentary Fight (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyrtflht) BERNE, December 12. Uproar and flying fists shattered the peaceful business of the Swiss Parliament yesterday when 25 young Jura separatists invaded the chamber. The long-haired youths, most of them aged between 17 and 20 and dressed in jeans and windbreakers, shouted “Jura Libre” (Free Jura) and brandished placards and the red and white flags of the French-speaking Jura, which they want to split from German-speaking Berne Canton. The Speaker suspended proceedings while ushers tried in vain- to turn them out. Sturdy deputies weighed in with their fists and at last one of the youths emerged with a bloody nose. He commented: “They hit hard, those National Councillors.”
