Fewer Road Deaths

The number of deaths on Britain’s roads fell by oneseventh in the first year in which drivers were faced with random breath checks for alcohol. A reduction of 10 per cent in over-all casualties is also reported by the Ministry of Transport, which says casualties between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. fell by one-third. —London, Dec. 13.
