Test Captain Dies

(N.Z. Pjess Association) x * LONDON. The former England cricket captain, Mr R. W. V. Robins, died on Thursday, aged 62. A forcing batsman and legbreak bowler, he played in 19 tests, captained England in the 1937 series against New Zealand, and was vicecaptain under G. O. Allen in the 1936-37 team which toured Australia. Mr Robins served as a test selector before being appointed manager of the M.C.C. for its 1959-60 tour of the West Indies. He was chairman of the test selection committee from 1962-65.
