BOWS AND ARROWS

Non-Strategic Sale By U.K. (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NOTTINGHAM (England), Dec. 13. Britain has signed an arms deal with the Soviet Union for bows and arrows. Moscow is to get 200 bows and other equipment from a factory in Sherwood Forest where the legendary outlaw Robin Hood campaigned against the Sheriff of Nottingham. The British bow, ordered by the Soviet Shooting Federation for their archery team at the 1972 Olympics in Munich, is so powerful and accurate that an arrow can pass right through a man’s body at 100 yards and fly on. The order, placed with Marksman Archery Products, will earn Britain £BOOO worth of roubles.

A Government spokesman said in London last night Britain had an absolute ban on export of strategic arms to the Soviet bloc. “As far as we know, this does not include bows and arrows,” he said.
