Tallulah Bankhead, the throaty-voiced Southern belle who became a stage star, movie siren and eventually one of the nation’s leading character actresses and characters—died today, aged 65, the Associated Press reported. Miss Bankhead had been ill only a few days, a victim of the current epidemic of influenza, when pneumonia developed and led to her death, according to her business manager. Mr Ezra Schine. Her sister, Miss Eugenia Bankhead, and nephew, Mr Bill Bankhead, were with her at her death.
