Mr Vines To Join Board Of I.W.S.
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. December 11. Mr W. J. Vines would join the board of the International Wool Secretariat when he retired from its managing directorship and returned to Australia next year, the board’s chairman (Sir William Gunn) announced today.
“The matter was discussed i at a recent meeting of the board in Melbourne, and Mr ■Vines’s future role has now been confirmed by the Wool Boards of New Zealand, Australia and South Africa,” Sir William Gunn said. Sir John Acland, chairman of the New Zealand board, said tonight: “We had to alter the rules a little to get Mr Vines on the board, but we were extremely pleased to do so. “He has made a trepien-
jdous contribution to the survival of wool during the last seven years, and we need his knowledge of the industry and his business skill. “My board had no hesitation in confirming the appointment." Mr Vines, who is 52, has been managing director of the secretariat for seven years. Next July he will be succeeded by another Australian, Mr A. C. B. Aiden, the present secretary of the Federal Government’s Department of Primary Industry.
