DISCUSSION ON RIGHTS
Human rights issues will be discussed during a forum at a wine and cheese evening to be held by the Canterbury Youth Council on November 22 at 8 p.m. in the Students’ Union building at Ham. The meeting is being held to draw attention to the International Year for Human Rights. The council decided this week to give the proceeds from the evening to the Sir Walter Nash Vietnam appeal. A motion to replace a proposed youth week next year with a two-day discussion was lost. Instead it was decided that a sub-committee should investigate further the possibility of a youth week and report to the next meeting of the council.
Earlier this year the council agreed to a proposal that a youth week be held in Christchurch in May to draw attention to the activities of youth organisations in Christchurch.
