Flood Level Falling

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) RO VIGO (Italy), Nov. 8. A wave of water sweeping down the River Po towards the Adriatic coast was diminishing yesterday and hopes rose that a new flood idsaster in north-west Italy could be avoided.

Hundreds of volunteers watching the river in the low-lying-Plesine Plain south of Venice reported a continuing rise in the water level, but authorities said the river was now not likely to break its banks. They would not be certain the danger was over for another 24 hours.
