Starlifter Flights

Only one flight remains in the eight-flight Starlifter programme to take cargo from Christchurch to the American bases in Antarctica. Two United States Military Air Command StarliftersJeft Christchurch for Williams Field, near McMurdo Station, yesterday, on the, sixth and seventh flights 10 the series. It is the first /time that two Starlifters haVe left Christchurch for the ice on the'bhe day. The first left at 11.41 a.m. and the second at 3 p.m. A Hercules and a Super Constellation also left Christchurch for Antarctica yesterday morning. The first of the Starlifters to return landed at midnight and the other was expected back at 3 a.m. this morning. The Super Constellation left Williams Field on the return flight at 9.29 p.m. last night. The last Starlifter flight in the series is scheduled to leave Christchurch today.
