Millie Small Out Of Cup
Hopes of a Riccarton victory in the New Zealand Cup tomorrow diminished yesterday with the announcement that Millie Small would not run.
Millie Small’s legs have worried her part-owner and trainer, T. I. Smith, since her winning run in the New Zealand Cup and Derby Trial last Saturday. The My Pal mare was jarred after her gallop on the flint-hard track at Motukarara.
Millies Small’s forelegs had filled yesterday so the decision to let her drop out of the two-mile event was made to avoid the risk of a breakdown.
