The new scale of Parliamentary salaries and allowances are as follows: PRIME MINISTER— Salary $12,400 Expenses .. ... $3500 DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER— Salary .. ■ $9150 Expenses $l4OO MINISTER WITH PORTFOLIO— Salary $B6OO Expenses $l3OO MR SPEAKER— Salary $7350 Expense allowance: Normal allowance as a member plus $lOOO (Note —Residential quarters and certain services are provided in Parliament House for Mr Speaker) CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES— Salary $5950 Expense allowance: Normal allowance as a member plus $6OO (Note —Residential quarters provided in Parliament House) LEADER OF OPPOSITION— Salary $7350 Expense allowance $l3OO DEPUTY LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION— Salary $5200 Expense allowance: Normal allowance as a member plus $5OO MEMBERS— Salary $4650 Special salary allowance for Government and Opposition Whips: Chief $4OO Junior $2OO EXPENSE ALLOWANCE OF MEMBERS—--1 The basic expense allowance to be increased from $B5O to $lOOO 2 The additional allowance depending on glassification of electorates to be. (a) Electorates which are wholly urban $BO (b) Electorates which are substantially urban • • 5200 (c) Electorates which are partially urban and partially rural $450 (d) Electorates which are ordinary rural $BOO (e) Electorates which are predominantly rural •• 51000 3 Special additional allowance for Southern Maori Electorate of $3OOO and for each of the other Maori electorates $l5O. SESSIONAL ALLOWANCE— The dailv allowance for all members to be increased to $2.25 and the night allowance for members entitled thereto to be increased to $6. (Note—This does not apply to Ministers, Parliamentary Under-Secretaries. tne Leader of the Opposition, Mr Speaker, or the Chairman of Committees).
