Golf Club Formed
The Canterbury Golf Club has been formed. It was brought into existence with the unanimous approval of more than 80 people who attended a public meeting. The club proposes to construct a 36-hole golf course at McLean’s Island, at the back of the Harewood course, and a project committee has been making plans during the last three months. The chairman of the committee (Mr R. A. Burgess) said the club proposed to cater for people who were unable to obtain membership at an existing elub. The club plans to set its foundation membership at 559—350 men, 150 women, and 50 juniors.
