CHRISTMAS MAIL
The final surface mail to reach Britain and Europe by Christmas will leave TimarU in the Britannic next Wednesday.
This means that all second class mail—parcels, packets and newspapers—will close at the Chief Post Office in Christchurch at 10 a.m. tomorrow. All first-class mail—letters and cards—will close at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Post Office expects about 4000 bags of mail to be loaded before sailing, including 700 bags from Dunedin and 1300 bags from Christchurch and the balance from Wellington. Mail from the northern half of the North Island will sail in the Otaki from Auckland next Wednesday.
