BEQUEST OF $50,000
Horticultural Society
A bequest of about $50,000 will be received by the Canterbury Horticultural,Society from the estate of Mr and Mrs J. R. Templin, who were supporters of the society for many years.
News of the bequest was given to a meeting of the management committee of the society, which will use part of the money to repay debentures on its building in Oxford Terrace. The balance will be invested.
Mr Templin was president of the society from 1956 until his death in 1961, and the bequest was made in the will of Mrs Templin. The main hall in the society’s building was named Templin Hall in recognition of Mr Templin’s work.
