18 Horses For U.S.
Horse* valued at more than $300,000 will leave Christchurch today for Los Angeles in a Qantas Boeing 707. Thera will be 16 pacers and trotter* and two thoroughbreds in the consignment. The pacers and trotters include Bay Boa, Dark Rival, Intercede, Paranova, Fratello, Spencer Boy, Royal Cavalier, Bronze Lad, Santa Claus, Shadydale and Status. The others are young unraced horses. All have been secured by M. and A. Stables, of Chicago.
The thoroughbreds are Barellan, which was sold for a big price last week, and Fair Account, the winner of ths 1966 New Zealand Derby Stakes at Riccarton. Fair Account is owned by an American, Mr J. M. Keele, who intends mating him with some of his own mares.
The horses will be accompanied by Mr and Mrs I. L. Schwamm, of Christchurch, Mrs R. H. Negus, of Springeton, and Mr H. G. Harris, of Cambridge.
