Port Bill Drafted
(N.Z. Press Association? WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. Mr H. J. Walker (Nat., St Albans) said in the House tonight that he had the authority of the Minister of Marine (Mr Scott) to say that a Port Authority Bill was at present in the legal drafting stages and would be introduced to the House before the end of the session. Mr Walker said there was only one place in New Zealand, in his opinion, that was ideally suited as a container port and that was the port of Lyttelton. He said there was an ample transport flow through that area and that Christchurch was well served with an international airport. “There are various measures in the bill which can only be temporary, because of the changing nature of the transport industry," Mr Walker said.
