A 17-year-old Israeli girl, Shoshana Sharabl, yesterday became the first gold medal winner at the Paraplegic games.
Miss Sharabi, who sufferred from polio as a child, won the women’s foil event for novices In the fencing programme.
In the bpwls competition, J. Savage (New Zealand), was beaten by W. Easton (Britain).
