Early Start To Athletics
Because of the great influx of under-age competitors this season, all inter-club athletics meetings at Rugby Park will in future begin each Saturday at 1.45 p.m. “We may even have to start earlier as more senior competitors appear,” an official of the Canterbury Centre (Mr P. D. Brown) said yesterday. The first event on Saturday’s programme will be the senior three miles and this will start at the new time. Also on the programme are the first senior and junior steeplechase events of the season. However, th? senior Canterbury champion, J. D. Macdonald, will not be competing.
Team Manager.—Two Wellington officials, Mesdames J. Lamason and H. Poulter, are the only nominations for the position of manager of the New Zealand women's cricket team during the English tour early next year.
