WOOL STRONG
The wool market continued al a very satisfactory level when the third Christchurch wool sale was held yesterday. Most halfbred and Corriedale and crossbred wools tended to be dearer again on recent rates. Merino wools were quoted as being slightly easier on Timaru rates, but many sales were made at more than 60c per lb anil up to 66c.
The average price for the sale could be about 38c per lb, or almost 70 per cent higher than a year ago. Wool Commission stock wools, which were almost entirely fine wools, sold to advantage. In most cases they brought more than the initial buying price in August and October last year. In some instances the advance was up to 10c or 11c per lb. (Prices, Report, Pl 6)
