(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter —Copyright) SAG PAULO (Brazil), October 13. A young United States Army captain was machinegunned to death by unknown assailants in Sao Paulo today in front of his nine-year-old son. Typed leaflets scattered from the gunmen’s car said he was executed “by revolutionary justice as a Vietnam war criminal.” Captain Charles Chandler, aged 30, of Louisiana, served in Vietnam as an artillery officer, and was studying to become an instructor in the Portuguese language at the West Point Military Academy. The father of four children, one born in Brazil, Captain Chandler was in the last month of a two-year course at the University of Sao Paulo. According to his son's account, the killers approached from two directions and opened fire. Captain Chandler was hit by 11 bullets and died immediately.
