“Here is a case of a vigilant citizen who saw something and reported it,” said Cr A. T. Bell, when the North Canterbury Catchment Board yesterday decided to ask the police to take action for theft against a person who took rock from the base of the water-level recorder at the Waimakariri highway bridge. The board's informant, by letter, said that on September 29, a person had been seen to remove a dozen large slabs of rock from the base of the recorder. The writer gave the number and description of a 'car.
