Thornton, triumphed over thunderstorms and wet course to win the 814,572 Dunlop Masters golf tournament with a 14-under-par total of 274. Starting the final round three strokes behind A. Jacklin. the leader, Thomson had a 66 (six under par) in miserable conditions. and finished five strokes ahead of the Welshman. D. C. Thomas, and six in front of C. O'Connor, and two Englishmen. P. Butler and M. Townsend.
