RHODES NOMINEE
A New Zealand Olympic Games hockey representative for Mexico, S. G. Maister, has been nominated by the University of Canterbury for a Rhodes Scholarship. He will travel to Wellington later this year to be interviewed by the New Zealand scholarship selection committee. The 22-year-old Mr Maister was educated at the Bishopdale Primary School and Christchurch Boys’ High School before he graduated B.Sc last year. He is now completing his thesis for a master’s degree in chemistry. Mr Maister is also a very active member of the management committee of the Canterbury Hockey Association.
