FUTURE TREND
'T'HE number of successful x full-house oil burner heating installations throughout the country in windowless, well Insulated and ventilated poultry houses leads one to think that this will be the
future trend in the industry, says Mr G. C. Marshall, of G.E.C. (New Zealand), Ltd. Brooder chicks need 85 to 95 degrees in the whole house, while broilers appear at present to need 55 to 60 degrees, he says. However, by altering the diet and increasing the heat quite outstanding results have been obtained, and experimentation in this field is still going on.
Laying poultry appears to need 54 degrees to 70 degrees, but here again the best temperature and diet has not yet been established.
Automatic controllers for ventilation, lighting and heating are now responsible and are working with outstanding success in some parts of New Zealand, he says.
