FARMING OF RABBITS
Profitability Doubted (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 11. Inquiries by the Department of Agriculture into the feasibility of rabbit farming in New Zealand have indicated that it might not be economically viable. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr Taiboys) said in Parliament today that New Zealand exporters of rabbit meat and fur would face strong competition from other exporters who could produce at very low prices. He said in reply to Mr R. L. G. Talbot (Nat, Ashburton) that he was prepared to make known the results of the inquiry when it was completed. Large-scale rabbit farming would not be introduced without consultations with pest-control association, he said.
