Small Civil Service
(N Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SUVA, September 12. The head of the world’s smallest Civil Service will arrive in Suva next month for a course in administration and accounting at the South Pacific Office. He is Ben Christian, the Pitcairn Island Secretary for the last 10 years. With a population of about 90, Pitcairn has only three civil servants—Mr Christian, his typist and the island magistrate. The lonely island, settled by the Bounty mutineers. Is about 3500 miles east of Fiji and is administered from here.
