JOBS FOR MINERS
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, Sept. 12. Definite contracts at the Gear Meat Works at Peione were offered to workers at the Dobson mine yesterday by Mr W. J. Laracy, the company’s personnel officer. Travelling with Mr Laracy on a two-day visit was Mr N. Watene, hostel manager for the company. The two visitors addressed the day shift at Dobson yesterday morning and made themselves available for interviews in the afternoon. They explained to the men the vacancies, work conditions and accommodation at the company’s works. Mr Laracy said the company could take about 25 men at present, and not 50 as had been previously announced by someone outside the company.
