Two Wins For Breasley

(N.Z P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. S. Breasley will long remember the farewell given to him by the crowds at Alexandra Park when he made his final appearance there on Tuesday and captured the last two races on Crucible and Gaberdine. Breasley, aged 54, who will become the new master of the Nightingale stables at South Hatch, Epsom at the end of the season, has been top jockey at Alexander Park for the last five years.

Crucible came with a typically high-powered Breasley challenge to take the St Albans Handicap. A great roar from the stands greeted the Australian after he had adopted the same tactics to land Gaberdine home a length and a half ahead of Portroy in the Great Northern Stakes. “It was a grand finish at Alexandra Park with two winners,” said Breasley. “I’ve had plenty of success round these turns, but don’t forget I also had two accidents here.”
