Observance By France
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NEW YORK, Sept. 11. France announced yesterday that she had prohibited imports from and exports to Rhodesia in compliance with United Nations mandatory sanctions.
A note to the Security Council said this had been done under a decree dated August 23. A second decree prohibiting the transfer of funds to Rhodesia would be published shortly, The note added that prefectorial authorities and border police had been instructed to prevent entry into French territory, except on exceptional humanitarian grounds, of any person travelling on a Rhodesian passport. France is the last leading nation to reply to the council on measures being taken to implement comprehensive economic sanctions against Rhodesia. Some 60 member and nonmember Governments have notified the Security Council of their observance of sanctions.
