12 Charges Admitted
(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Sept. 9. A 20-year-old university student, Peter Edward Rittey, pleaded guilty in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today to seven charges of obtaining items by false pretences, four charges of theft, and a charge of forgery. Mr A. A. Coates. S.M., remanded him to Monday for a probation report and sentence.
Sergeant N. W. Stanhope, prosecuting, said Rittey stole a book of traveller’s cheques while he was staying at Queenstown on August 18. The other offences occurred at Christchurch in the next five days and involved the theft of cheques and a coat and the obtaining of articles by cashing the cheques
