Gallery In London For N.Z. Artists
New Zealand artists working in Britain will be able, from this week, to exhibit their work in a small gallery on the tenth floor of New Zealand House, reports an N.Z.P.A. correspondent in London. The High Commissioner (Sir Denis Blundell) has agreed that, until the space is required for other Government purposes, New Zealand painters should be given the opportunity to display their work. On view this week are works which were lent to the public relations branch of New Zealand Ho'se by various artists and displayed recently as part of an exhibition for the centenary of the Royal Commonwealth Society in the Bristol Art Gallery. The disnlay includes paintings by Douglas Macdiarmid,
Lou se Henderson, and Robert Walls, examples of etched glass by John Hutton, and ceramics by William Newland. In addition there will be paintings from the Kelliher collection, which has been touring Britain under an arrangement made through New Zealand House. Works included in this collection are by Douglas Badcock, C. T. Laugeson, R. W. Taylor, G. M. Ingle, Myra Kirkpatrick, and J. S. Loxton. Nineteen New Zealanders in Britain have already expressed an interest in exhibiting their Work and sales will be encouraged. Normally a limit of one month will be placed on any one exhibit and entry will be limited to three works by any one artist at one time.
