The England captain, M. C. Cowdrey, became only the second player to make 7000 runs tn test cricket when he passed this figure In the recent series against Australia. W. R. Hammond is the other. Cowdrey also
became the first player to appear in 100 tests. Other milestones attained In the series were;— 4500 runs: E. R. Dexter (E, 4502) and T. W. Graveney (E, 4653). 2000 runs: R. M. Cowper (A, 2061) and J. H. Edrich (E, 2036). 1000 runs: K. D. Walters (A, 1007). 50 wickets: D. J. Brown (E, 57).
