Spilt Milk
Fifteen hundred gallons of whey spilled over the road at Waikino, between W’aihi and Paeroa, on Thursday afternoon when a trailer coupling became unhitched on a tanker travelling from the Waihi cheese factory to Kerepehi. The Waihi Volunteer Fire Brigade was called out to wash the whey from the road. A dairy company spokesman has said that an investigation is being carried out to determine the reason for the mishap.
