Ski Racer Delayed

The French ski-ing champion, J. C. Killy, has had a change of plans and will not arrive in Christchurch until Saturday. He and the American film crew with whom he is travelling, are still at the Chateau Tongariro. The party will fly to Mount Cook on Saturday for several days before travelling to Queenstown to ski at Coronet Peak.

It is Killy’s second visit to New Zealand. He competed in the New Zealand championships at Coronet Peak in 1965 and was disqualified when he fell heavily in the giant slalom event Miss M. Goitschel, another gold medallist at the Winter Olympics, also visited New Zealand at that time.

Killy is still an amateur and is making this trip under the sponsorship of the French Government.
