FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation. —Anticyclones with centres to the north-east of the North Island and southeast of the South Island cover New Zealand. A trough of low pressure in the Tasman Sea is moving slowly east. Forecast: Canterbury.—Light to moderate east to north-east winds; a few showers in the Alps, otherwise fine; rising day temperatures. Marlborough, Nelson, Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate winds from the north; cloudy skies and scattered light showers; becoming milder.
