Dato Donald Stenhens, the newly-appointed High Commissioner for Malaysia, yesterday presented his letter of commission to the GovernorGeneral. Their Excellencies then held a luncheon party at Government House.—(P.A)

Dr J. A. Kirk has been appointed physician in charge of physical medicine at the Christchurch Hospital by the North Canterbury Hospital Board. A house surgeon and registrar in Dunedin from 1961 to 1965, he went to Hammersmith Hospital, London, and in 1966 to the Royal Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath. This month, Dr Kirk took up a clinical fellowship in rheumatology at the department of medicine, University of Rochester, New York. He expects to take up his appointment in Christchurch in the middle of next year. Mr A. Berry has become chief engineer at the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company’s works at Belfast, having transferred from the company’s Pareora works, where he was chief engineer for 20 years.
