(N.Z. Pr6if>

AUCKLAND, Sept. 1

A vivacious Australian ballerina and choreographer, Bfcth Dean, is returning home with Australia’s first ‘‘gold’’ from the Mexico Olympics.

She won the medal for the choreography of the Australian ballet entry in the Cultural Olympics.

Invitations werfe extended to choreographers from 10 countries to arrange a ballet for the Cultural Olympics at Mexico. They were being held this year for the first time in modern history because the arts had always been represented at the original Olympics in Greece.

The ballet was based on a traditional Aboriginal tale “Dudaitcha, the Emu Man,” taken from the book, “Naked We are Born,” written by Miss Dean’s husband, Victor Carrell.
