Portuguese Party Of The Decade

LISBON (Portugal), Sept. 2.

The South American tin magnate, Antenor Patino, says he will be “receiving friends” next Friday—a thousand of them, in fact, at his sprawling Portuguese farm in Alcoitao.

The “friends”? Well, there’s Zsa Zsa Gabor, Audrey Hepburn, Gene Tierney, Gina Lollabrigida, Curt Jergens, Princess Ira von Furstenburg, Henry Ford IL Douglas Fairbanks, jn., Guy and Cecile Rothchlld, Soraya, Kari Aga Khan, Count Rossie Mondelene, Gunther Sachs, and the Spanish bullfighter, Luis Miguel Dominguin, to name just a few. Social Lisbon is bustling. Everyone, from Ritz Hotel caterers to Portugese National Guardsmen, is rushing about to prepare Patino’s farm for

what people say will be the grandest party of the decade.

The American decorator, Valerian Rybar, has already arrived. He is completely redecorating Patino’s home in pastel colours and women guests will be required to wear long, light dresses to match. Rybar is also fitting out an army of servants with bright blue uniforms and ornate silver buttons.

Dominique, France’s foremost men’s hairdresser, will be on hand to give the guests last minute brush-ups. They will be able to choose from four internationallyknown orchestras, depending on whether they like Greek, American, French or Portugese music. The evening will begin at 10 p.m. and swing right through until the next morning. Only the strongest stomachs are expected to survive to sample the 10 a.m. breakfast The Ritz Hotel is rumoured to be concocting a Bacchanalian feast The cost of the party is expected to reach SNZ3m.
